Glamping experience new to the Whitsundays

There is a new experience in the Whitsundays!  Locals can enjoy a staycation and visitors can discover new parts of the region that they might not otherwise go to.

“Glamping (noun.) – a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.”

The Whitsunday region is home to many unique landscapes and stunning blue waters that are unmatched anywhere in the world. Bell Tents Whitsundays aims to showcase some of the beautiful spots our region has to offer, combining accommodation, picnics and picturesque locations to bring a new immersive experience to locals and visitors.

The best way to unplug and enjoy the simplicity of nature

Setting up only at unpowered sites, you can leave your smartphone in the tent (after snapping some photos of course) and recharge your own batteries!

One of the important health benefits of camping is that it reduces stress by removing common triggers like work pressure, traffic and the rush of day-to-day life, replacing them with the calming effect of bird song, the sound of waves lapping on the beach and the wind in the trees. The real thing is much more therapeutic than anything you’ll find on your music playlist.

Bell Tents Whitsundays owners Helen and Brad started this business so that people can reconnect with nature whilst camping in style.

“We are crazy passionate about camping and creating unique experiences for locals and visitors here in the Whitsundays. We love setting up Bell Tents in idyllic locations that showcase different parts of the region so that no two glamping experiences with us will be the same.”

Helen, originally from the UK, moved to the region in 2020 from Mackay and Brad, originally from Adelaide moved to the area in 2018. They fell in love with the turquoise waters and stunning landscapes in the area. In their free time they enjoy going on adventures to national parks, kayaking and bush walking.

Before Bell Tents Whitsundays began, Helen was working as a Research Diver on the Southern Great Barrier Reef on the Crown of Thorns control program. She is very passionate about conservation and preserving the reef and marine parks.

Brad has been running his own media business since 2018, Colours and Clouds Media, capturing ideas visually, creating content and telling stories through media for local businesses. You may have seen some of his work at Airlie Beach Race Week and Airlie Beach Hotel concerts.

Helen fancied a sea change, so she decided to move her work out of the ocean and on to the land. In December last year her and Brad bought their first Bell Tent to take camping and set it up on Boathaven Beach in January for a friends birthday picnic. Everyone loved it – there was so much interest from passers by that they started to wonder if they could actually start a business based around Bell Tents. A few internet and Instagram searches later they discovered a whole world of glamping that’s out there! And then Bell Tents Whitsundays was born.

“We put our heart and soul in to every setup down to the finest detail so that all you have to do is turn up and you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Come be a part of our journey and experience what Bell Tents Whitsundays has to offer.”

They are initially setting up the glamping experience out at Lake Proserpine, a hidden gem in the Whitsundays, with plans to open up more glamping spots as they become more established.

It is their vision to showcase as much of the region as possible, from Proserpine to Bowen and everything in between.
